On Sept 20,2018, Amazon announced Echo Auto, a device that brings Alexa to your vehicle. At that time, you could sign up for an introductory offer to purchase the Echo Auto for $24.99 which was 50% off its retail price of $49.99. At the time of this post, we have yet to receive the invitation to make the purchase which means the device is not ready.
Amazon has been quiet about the device but the industry has been raving about this device as a way to bring smart features to vehicles leveraging your phone’s cell phone plan. It will connect using Bluetooth to your phone. This is a great way to make your car ‘smart’ as most do not have smart features such as Apple Carplay or Android Auto.
The Echo Auto will consist of two buttons, one to mute the mic and one to trigger Alexa or the action button. It has 8 microphone array, 3.5 mm audio output (not sure why), light bar similar to your Echo device and a dash mount.
