Amazon released its new Echo Dot. So much for premature release yesterday! The 2nd Gen Amazon Echo Dot was formally announced today and you can pre-order it right now.

Priced for $49.99 to arrive on Oct. 20.
Available in black and white
You can use Bluetooth enabled speakers or headphones or use 3.5mm stereo cable
Same function as Amazon Echo to control smart home devices – compatible with WeMo, Phillips Hue, Nest, ecobee, Samsung SmartThings, and more
Embedded 7 far-field microphones for hands free control to access Alexa, update your Google calendar, access Wikipedia, sport scores, and more.
Includes a built-in speaker for alarms or assistant
Access to skills such as trivias, order Dominos or Uber

If your order history has the 1st Gen. Echo Dot, Amazon will credit you $10 towards the purchase 2nd Gen. Not much of a consolation.

Although, I don’t see anyone would want that many Echo Dots…
