It is possible to disable ordering function from Amazon Echo. It is a convenient feature but it can be dangerous if you have children in your household who loves to talk to Alexa. We already found out how much of a jerk my kids can really be when messing with your questions to Alexa. By default, Alexa will order a product after a simple verbal confirmation. It is especially easy if Alexa detects something from your order history which matches what you asked her to order. For other items, it is a bit of a crapshoot. What you don’t want is for your children to order a handgun for example! Imagine the horror not to mention the bill! Below are step by step instruction on how to disable ordering from your Echo.
How to disable ordering from your Echo
- Go to your Alexa app
- Open Settings
- Under ‘Account’ you will have submenu for ‘Voice Purchasing”
- From here, you can toggle ‘Purchase by voice’ and set it to off.
- Further below, you may set up a 4 digit confirmation code before making a voice purchase. This is separate from your Amazon password.
